Washington, DC (January 20, 2010) – On Wednesday, January 20th, The Source by Wolfgang Puck will introduce a new menu concept for its lounge with an Izakaya-style menu that will replace the more modern American focused one. The new menu will be available Monday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
 
The restaurant looked to Japan and its traditional Izakaya – a form of gastropub – for inspiration for the new concept which will offer a multitude of new options priced between $8 and $12. In addition to a “Robata” section featuring dishes cooked using this traditional Japanese charcoal grilling technique, the new menu will offer sushi, sashimi and noodle dishes.
 
“Our guests consistently gravitate toward the Asian-inspired dishes we serve in the upstairs dining room,” said Executive Chef Scott Drewno. “With this new direction, we can provide them with a lounge menu that is more Asian in concept and still approachable and fun for casual dining experiences.”
 
While the concept itself derives from Japan, Chef Drewno’s menu at The Source will draw inspiration from all of Asia. To that end, diners can choose between a Chinese-inspired Pork Belly in steamed bao buns, a Mini Banh Mi with country-style pate hailing from Vietnam, and Korean-style Short Ribs with kimchi and kochujan aioli. Innovative sushi offerings will be available, such as Yellowtail Sashimi with pickled jalapeno citrus ponzu and Spicy Tuna Roll with handcut tuna and chili aioli along with cooked Japanese dishes such as the Black Cod with noodle salad and sesame dressing.
The menu also features a varying selection of “Noodles & Dumplings,” such as Stir Fried Yaki Udon with wild field mushrooms and oxtail and Sichuan Chicken Dumplings with crushed peanut and chili “Dan Dan.” 
 
Happy hour at The Source, which takes place Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. – 
6 p.m., will offer guests the opportunity to select any three dishes off the new menu for $20.10. This offer includes the new drink selection, which will feature Shochu, along with Hitachino Nest beers, and an expanded collection of sake and traditional Japanese teas. 
 
The Source by Wolfgang Puck is located at 575 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW (entrance on 6th Street). The dining room is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m. The lounge is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
