Managing Partner, Operations & Corporate Chef - Las Vegas
David Robins brings more than 20 years of culinary and restaurant experience to the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group through a strong breadth and wealth of knowledge in back and front of house operations.
As Managing Partner, Operations & Corporate Chef-Las Vegas of the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, Robins is responsible for restaurant development and overseeing the daily supervision of all dining room operations including front-of-house, staff training and recruitment. Robins is committed to Puck's mission of providing world-class food, service and atmosphere to create an unparalleled dining experience for guests.
Robins first joined the company in 1992 to open Wolfgang's flagship Spago restaurant in Las Vegas. As executive chef, he inherited the daunting task of bringing contemporary cuisine to a city that boasted all-you-can-eat buffets. Robins had left the sophistication of San Francisco and a long-standing relationship with famed chef Jeremiah Tower and his restaurant Stars for the kitsch of Las Vegas, but trusted Puck's instinct that the evolution of the city offered potential for Spago to thrive in the desert.
It is often said the rest is history, and such is the case with Robins. Through his culinary passion, innovation and leadership, Robins helped take Spago and dining in Las Vegas to an unforeseen level. Working closely alongside Chef Puck, Robins quickly earned his respect, trust and friendship and within three years of Spago's successful opening, Wolfgang offered him a top-level partnership with the corporation and expanded his culinary role to include restaurant development and operations. Robins led the opening of five additional Puck restaurants in Las Vegas and today, he frequently finds himself traveling outside the city to assist his managing partners and operating teams in new openings and maintaining the quality of existing restaurants.
In addition to his role with the restaurants, Robins donates his time to many philanthropic and charitable endeavors including the Alzheimer's Foundation – Cleveland Clinic at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, March of Dimes, Nevada Cancer Institute and Meals on Wheels, plus served as a Big Brother in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization for five years. Giving back to the community is a large focus for Robins and a trait he works hard to instill throughout the restaurants' staff. His extensive commitment to charitable endeavors led him to become inducted into the Las Vegas Dozen which honors men in the Vegas Valley for their roles in business and community involvement.
Robins has been honored by many prestigious organizations including a nomination for Best Chef-Southwest in 2005 by the James Beard Foundation Awards, the nation's preeminent honors for culinary professionals. In 2003, Robins was recognized as Best Chef in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Life Epicurean Awards, the city's top culinary honors.
During the summer of 2006, Chef Robins added a new title to his resume - dad. Robins and his wife Anna welcomed their first child to the family, their son Zachary. Just like his father, Zachary has already begun a love for travel, accompanying Robins on his many trips to Puck's restaurants around the country and to cities where Robins researches the culinary scene, bringing new concepts back to the restaurants. Robins and his wife just recently welcomed their second son to the family, Nathan Henry Robins.
